Hundreds of $50 Gift Cards Given by Ramsey Law to Help Southeast Texans Recover From Hurricane Harvey Devastation
Between September 6, 2017, and September 17, 2017, Ramsey Law was fortunate to be able to assist hundreds of Hurricane Harvey victims.
The firm has received nearly 1,000 email requests and over 700 visits at our Beaumont office from individuals in Southeast Texas seeking one of our Market Basket Foods, M&D Supply Ace Hardware, Parker’s Building Supply, or Ritter Lumber gift cards.
Funded with donations by founding member Mike Ramsey and his wife Myla Ramsey– Beaumont natives- Ramsey Law gave over 880 of our fellow Southeast Texans a $50 gift card to one of these locations!
Our firm thanks Market Basket Foods, M&D Supply Ace Hardware, Parker’s Building Supply, and Ritter Lumber, for their generous $1,000 donations (and for processing our request for hundreds of gift cards in only a few hours!).
We also thank our employees and Thurman Miles for their help organizing and passing out the gift cards!
For me personally, this was a heart-warming and life changing experience.
I saw grown men cry because our gift card was the first assistance they had actually received.
I saw children come in who had lost everything, but still had smiles on their faces, because they were with their loved ones.
I saw people who lost everything, but still requested a gift card for their neighbor or friend, instead of for themselves.
I saw more than one family who closed on their new home in the days and weeks before Harvey, and lost everything in the storm.
I saw people from Beaumont, Port Arthur, Groves, Nome, Nederland, Winnie, Hamshire, Orange, China, Fannett, Winnie, Lumberton, Silsbee, and Kountze. The damage from Harvey was widespread.
I know it will be a long and difficult road, but I also know that Southeast Texas will recover because we will continue to work together!
Beaumont Strong!
